Cathedral High School Graduates the Class of 2026

Cathedral High School held its 95th commencement on Saturday morning, May 30, at the Cathedral. Because of rainy, windy weather, the graduates — the young women in yellow and the young men in green — gathered in the lower hall of the Cathedral. The procession began at 11 a.m., led by President Dan Carmody and Principal Karl Danso. Salutatorian Shammaelle Jean-Louis delivered the salutatory address and Atticus Maglothin the valedictory.

As is tradition at every Cathedral graduation, four awards were presented. Arriana Victoria Wright received the Covenant Award, given to a senior who values cultural diversity and works to promote racial harmony. Tamia Darling received the Spirit Award, recognizing enthusiasm, concern, and camaraderie. Clarck Charlotin received the Service Award, honoring a willingness to help and volunteer. Salutatorian Shammaelle Jean-Louis received the prestigious Vigor in Arduis Award — the highest honor Cathedral's faculty and administration can confer on a senior, taken from the Latin for "strength in adversity". Diplomas were presented to 69 graduates.
The ceremony was the last for President Dan Carmody, who steps down after seven years; Principal Karl Danso has been named the school's next president and head of school.

Founded in 1926 and marking its centennial this year, Cathedral is an urban, Catholic, college-preparatory school serving boys and girls in grades 7—12 in Boston's historic South End. The school, whose teams compete as the Panthers, has posted 100% college acceptance for more than 20 years and holds to a founding mission of delivering a rigorous, holistic education available to all families regardless of ability to pay. It bills itself as the most affordable private high school in Boston, with every admitted scholar awarded a 50% tuition grant through the Cathedral Opportunity Scholarship and 97% receiving additional financial assistance.
