On Monday, August 31, 2015, members of the Boston Police Department got soaked with ice water as they took part in the second annual Ice Bucket Challenge! Commissioner William Evans and Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross led the charge as over 100 BPD employees, both sworn and civilian, dumped ice over their heads to raise awareness for ALS research. This year's BPD Ice Bucket Challenge was performed in honor of one patient in particular, Boston Police Sergeant Detective Richard Clancy, who was recently diagnosed with this devastating disease. Sergeant Detective Clancy and his family also attended the event.
Kevin Gosnell of ALS Knights (ALSKnights.org) lended buckets and t Brookline Ice for donated the ice.
BPD completed the challenge and immediately challenged the men and women of the Boston Fire Department. #EveryAugustUntilACure
